What is Polish Water Ice?
It's not your typical Italian Water Ice. With its great taste, comes Polish Water Ices uniqueness. Rather than serving a stored product, Polish Water Ice is made while you wait for it. It could not be any fresher!
The inventor, who comes from a Polish background, has a degree in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering and has always wanted to invent a product that is out of this world. The homemade recipe contains no fat or cholesterol. Each flavor is perfected to refresh you.
When we combine our Polish Water Ice with soft serve ice cream, it creates our Polish Freeze which is unmatched.
Polish Water Ice started in the kitchen of Thomas B. Curyto, Sr. Having always appreciated Italian water ice, he researched how to make it and came up with his own recipe. As he continued to produce this refreshing dessert at home, it started becoming popular among his friends, family, neighbors, and acquaintances. At times, they would visit Tom just to have his water ice!
After a couple of years of hearing these ongoing positive comments, Tom and his wife, Lynne, were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary in the summer of 1996 in Bermuda. Joined with friends, Tom once again made his water ice for dessert and heard the usual comment - this is so good, you ought to sell this stuff! Tom and Lynne decided that upon returning home they would look into opening a shop so others could enjoy their water ice.
In early 1997, it was decided to open the first shop. After Tom & Lynne reviewed their options, they decided to go where they could share this with the most people. They felt the boardwalk was the right choice and chose Ocean City, NJ.
After opening, it became a success. Lines of customers packed the boardwalk and others wanted more information on franchising. Tom knew it was just a matter of time before it became popular, but he wasnt ready for this instant success. It took over 2 years to package the product, obtain the Trademark, and develop!
Since going public in 1997 and obtaining the National Trademark, others have attempted to duplicate our product with little success. In a humbling way, their attempts to copy have been a form of flattery, but often imitated, never duplicated. We are the original and the best!
It has been said that Polish Water Ice is made the old fashioned way!
About us:
It all started when proprietors Jay & Francine Charlie Took their daughter and 4 of her friends to the Jersey shore in the summer of 2009. The friends screamed “they have Polish Water Ice here!” When Jay took his 1st bite he knew they had to bring this amazing product back home to the Lehigh Valley. Francine & Jay grew up together in the same Allentown neighborhood and had always dreamed of owning their own business together. In December of 2010 they signed the 1st franchise agreement and opened the Bethlehem location on June 2nd 2010. With record breaking temperatures that summer it made it possible to open a 2nd location the following year in Coplay (Whitehall). They are proud to say their daughter and 2 of her friends from the Jersey shore trip are currently managers. They strive to hire great kids and love helping them pay their way to college and watching them grow into adults withthe same values for “always giving back”. With the help of their amazing staff they have already raised over $40,000 in just 2 years for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With the addition of 2 new partners Daniel Krimmel a Northampton High School teacher and Joe Koury an Allentown police officer they hope to expand to many more Lehigh Valley locations and beyond. With continued growth and spectacular customer values Jay & Francine hope to bring their childhood neighborhood to your neighborhood soon!
What is the difference between Italian Water Ice and Polish Water Ice? Polish Water Ice is a smoother textured water ice (custard like), which enhances its flavor and refreshment.
Why is it called POLISH Water Ice? The inventor, who comes from a Polish background realized its uniqueness and decided to name it after some ethnic pride.
Can you put more than one flavor in a cup? Yes, you can mix any two flavors that you would like. As a matter of fact, you can put more than two flavors in the larger sizes. This makes for great blends like our Cherry, Blue Raspberry and Lemon mix for the festive 4th of July holiday.
How many flavors do you have? This list is growing every year. We are always looking to expand our selection and perfect additional flavors.
